I want to apologize a head of time for this. As this broth simmers, your family and pets will think you are cooking something wonderful because it will smell delicious. Unfortunately, you will have to break it to them it is broth simmering and nothing to eat at this time.
ingredients:
- bones from a 14-15# turkey
- 18 cups of water
- 1 spring of fresh rosemary
- 1 spring of fresh oregano
- 1 spring of fresh basil
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
instructions:
- put the bones in a large stock pot
- add water and herbs
- bring to a boil then turn down to a simmer
- simmer for 4 hours, stirring occasionally
- after simmering, get another large pot or bowl and a wire strainer
- pour the bones and broth, from the original pot, into the strainer that is over another large pot; go slow to avoid splashing
- cool the broth; it should make about 17-18 cups of broth
- from here, you can make a soup for dinner or freeze it for another day
- Or make a soup and freeze some for later because you’ll have so much
ENJOY!
