Grilled Asparagus


serves: 4
time: 18-20 minutes
equipment: grill, tinfoil, brush


  • 1 bunch asparagus; about 1 pound
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter, divided into small pieces
  • tinfoil


  • preheat over to medium heat
  • fold tinfoil into a tray with raised edges
    • you could also use a small baking sheet with raised edges
  • cut off the bottom tough edges of the asparagus
  • rinse asparagus; let dry or dab with a paper towel
  • lay asparagus in single layer on tinfoil tray
  • with a brush, spread olive oil over the asparagus
  • evenly distribute the garlic and onion powder over the asparagus
  • distribute butter pieces randomly over the asparagus
  • grill over medium heat for 6-8 minutes; once butter is melted rotate the asparagus to spread the butter around
  • grill until tender-crisp
  • serve immediately
